when our eyes meet,

it is the moment where the hands on the clock line up

we start laughing because

there it is, our memories reflected into each other

and we just understand

it’s at 11:11, and i tell you to make a wish

when we pluck twin dandelions

and hold them up to our lips

i say i blew mine farther

but the seeds look the same

picked up by the same breath that whispered

in my ear, a secret word

a number to remember

when we walk the hotel hallways all alone

and say we’re going exploring

the whitewashed walls and wooden doors

become a mystery for us to solve

and when you look at me with a sideways glance

and a furrow in your brow

i already know what you are thinking about

when we tag along to the korean supermarket

to buy the plastic jar filled with little containers of jelly

and you say you get more

because you’re older

we fight over seats at the restaurant

and in the car

where four of us squeeze into the backseat

you ask me for an earbud

and so i play your favorite song
