I now look upon your face,
And in your eye I see a tear.
I relive the memories dear
That return through many a year,
And too, the love we shared.
We were young, and so in love
That nothing could deter us from
Facing all that was to come.
All that the family would become
Enhanced the love we shared.
Troubles came, as troubles do,
And through it all, the way was long,
But we held firm, and we were strong.
It taught us that we were not wrong
To trust the love we shared.
Inevitably, we had to part.
You to go through Heaven’s gate,
And I to stay behind and wait
Until the day I meet my fate.
Again, our love, we’ll share.
